Greenwashing: Nordstrom Goes Green
Nordstrom Goes Green. The card reads “We’ve Gone Green!” The card explains the extent of their “going green” as them having created a system for you to check your nordstrom card online, if it qualified for an annual summary. They detail out how much paper they will be saving so long as you sign up with their online visa account. So, Nordstrom will help save 476 trees if they can get us all to enroll in their visa program.

You can’t blame them for trying to jump on the “green” movement, but I agree that this is more like astroturf.

The moral of the story is clear: If sustainability is to work as a part of a business then corporations must practice what they preach. If a discernible effort is made to introduce systems and processes that will reduce a company’s impact on the environment, consumers will both respect and appreciate that company. Honesty, effort and transparency go a long way.

It’s great to see that more and more are getting into the bandwagon of helping to save our precious, limited natural resources. After all, these are our only true legacy for today’s youth.

All efforts, no matter how small, can certainly contribute a lot into the gal of preserving nature. Kudos, Nordstrom! Hope this works out.

It’s great that these big establishments are getting in on this cause. Kids are becoming more aware because they see how this cause has affected us.
