On the Longevity and Sustainability of Mac's Green Laptops
From the Technically Green blog:
Is it okay to go through a new laptop every year or two if they are easier to recycle and less likely to leach harmful toxins into our ground water?…I see some dubious green-washing in Apple’s new line of MacBooks. No matter how recyclable a computer may be, more upgrades in shorter cycles means more resources and more energy consumed. And that is a step backwards in sustainability.

I don’t understand how a laptop can actually be made green. It still has the same harmfull componets doesn’t it? And you can only recycle so many parts. I guess I am either blind to technology or just am dumb.

No you’re not stupid and you raise an excellent point. Saying something is “green” is a very nebulous phrase. Some components required for any computer to run and well, be a computer are never really green.
But is is all relative. Products like computers can be made “greener,” including the supply and distribution chain.
